Devices and Mac OS X version
VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any 64bit Intel-based Mac. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.
DCP frame rates of 24, 25, and 30 frames per second are supported. DCP Player 2 for Linux is bundled with the Ovation III DCP player product. Player2 decode performance is typically better on Player2 compared with the Mac only Player1 due to higher software efficiency, better thread utilization, and support of AVX2 instructions. NeoDCP Player is a software to play Digital Cinema Packages (DCP) with focus on highest quality of the output. Real-time 2K/4K, 2D/3D playback of DCPs on modest PC with KDM support.
Web browser plugin for Mac OS X
Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.
